Churches at times form temporary or even permanent associations or alliances, usually in order to affiliate more closely with churches of like beliefs. Such affiliations are not formal denominations but still function similarly to denominations from time to time.
Pastors in these associations receive encouragement and support. Joint missionary support might also be a major focus. Theology is often developed and sharpened as well. Continuing education is accommodated. If the alliance is specific in purpose and is, in fact, an ongoing ministry in its own right, ministry property & liability insurance is needed!
